The animated anthology brings nine new anime-style stories exploring the Star Wars universe

The series Star Wars: Visions, produced by Lucasfilm, is back with its third season, premiering on October 29, 2025, exclusively on Disney+. This new volume continues the franchise’s creative approach: offering unique interpretations of the Star Wars universe through the vision of acclaimed animation studios.

This time, the spotlight returns to Japan, featuring nine short films produced by Kamikaze Douga, Production I.G, TRIGGER, WIT Studio, and Polygon Pictures, each pushing the artistic boundaries of the saga even further.

What to expect: visual style, storytelling, and a confirmed spin-off

At the Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025 panel, it was confirmed that the new season will include continuations of popular episodes such as The Duel, The Village Bride, and The Ninth Jedi, blending fresh tales with direct connections to previous shorts.

Additionally, the spin-off Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi has been announced for 2026, expanding one of the anthology’s most acclaimed stories into a full-length production.

Artistic impact and fan expectations

With its creative freedom, diverse animation styles, and strong Japanese influence, Star Wars: Visions S3 reaffirms Lucasfilm’s commitment to celebrating cultural and aesthetic diversity within the franchise. The return to Japanese studios highlights the series’ artistic roots.
